Essex care home orders inquiry into care home treatment

An independent law firm has been asked by the Old Deanery Care Home to investigate concerns over treatment

A care home has suspended seven workers and asked a law firm to carry out an inquiry amid concerns over the treatment of its residents.

The Old Deanery Care Home in Bocking looks after up to 93 elderly residents, some of whom have dementia.

In its last inspection by the Care Quality Commission the home met all required standards.

Although the home would not say what the allegations were, it did confirm families had been told about them.

A spokesman for the home said management were committed to provide "the highest standards of care".

"We have informed the local authorities and families of everyone staying at the Old Deanery," the spokesman said.

"An independent law firm has been appointed to carry out a full inquiry."

Essex County Council, the local social services authority, is yet to comment.
