A car driver suffered "potentially life-changing injuries" in a crash involving a lorry on a busy Essex road, police said.

Officers were called at about midday following the two-vehicle crash near Poplar Nurseries on the A120, close to Marks Tey.

The force said the road, which leads to junction 25 of the A12, would remain shut for "some time".

An air ambulance took the car driver to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.

Officers said the lorry driver sustained minor injuries.

Anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage has been asked to contact police.
