Councillors have accepted a new link road would unlock land needed for some 7,500 new homes, and agreed to find a contractor to begin building.

Essex County Council's cabinet gave the green light for procuring contractor for the road between Colchester and Tendring.

Plans for the A120/A133 link road include a four-lane dual carriageway and a park and ride service.

It is hoped building will start in February 2024.
