A man has been arrested after a woman was stabbed on a high street.

Essex Police were called to reports of an assault on Wickford High Street at about 13:45 BST on Monday.

The woman sustained a stab wound to her arm but her injuries were not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of common assault, actual bodily harm and criminal damage.

He has been released on bail until 17 December.
