A body has been pulled from a river in the search for a man who disappeared on a night out shortly before his 26th birthday.

Essex Police said the man's body was recovered from the River Colne in Colchester on Friday.

Noel Haruna, from the city, went missing on 22 October after a night out with friends at Trilogy nightclub.

Formal identification of the body has not yet taken place but Mr Haruna's family have been informed, police said.

The force added that the death was not being treated as suspicious and a file was being prepared for the coroner.

Mr Haruna was last spotted on CCTV walking along East Hill, a short distance from the nightclub, at about 04:00 BST.

He turned 26 on 1 November, with his family issuing an emotional appeal describing their pain to find him.

They said the disappearance was out of character for Mr Haruna.
