Family tribute to 'live wire' Canvey Island e-scooter rider

Connor Burden died after a collision with a van in Canvey Island

The mum of a 20-year-old e-scooter rider who died after a crash has described him as "the live wire of the family with the biggest heart".

Connor Burden suffered serious injuries and later died in hospital following a collision with a van in Harvest Road, Canvey Island shortly after 17:50 BST on 27 October.

His mum said: "Losing my boy has left all his family and friends absolutely devastated."

Police have asked for dashcam footage.

Mr Burden's family said they were trying to help each other following the death.

His mum said: "He [Connor] was the live wire in the family with the biggest heart - he idolised his siblings, especially his baby sister, and thought the world of his friends around him.

"As a family, we are struggling to find a way to ever get through this but the support we have received from Connor's friends and other family members has been so amazing.

"I know my boy would be proud of each and every one of them. Fly high my darling boy."

Essex Police appealed for anyone with information, or dashcam footage to contact them.

A 49-year-old man from Southend-on-Sea was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving and was released on bail as inquiries continue.
