Police have arrested two men amid efforts to break up a major county lines drugs gang.

Officers raided a property in Foxglove Way, Chelmsford, Essex, shortly before noon on Tuesday.

A "large quantity" of cash was seized alongside a number of items "significant" to the investigation, police said.

The men, brothers aged 20 and 29, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of cocaine.

Both were due to appear at Southend Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

Det Insp Mark Jones, of Essex Police's Op Raptor North team, said it was a "significant step forward" in the force's investigation.

He said: "Our investigations often span across Essex and into London, and we have a strong relationship with the Metropolitan Police in order to ensure intelligence is passed between forces, as is shown in this case."

Chelmsford MP Vicky Ford praised the police action during a speech in the House of Commons.
