Harlow man in court accused of police officers' attempted murder

A man charged with the attempted murder of two police officers has appeared in court.

Declan Diedrick, 23, of Hull Grove, Harlow, Essex, is also charged with one count of possession of a knife.

Appearing at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on Monday, he spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth and was not asked to enter any pleas.

Mr Diedrick was remanded into custody and is due to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on Wednesday.

Essex Police was called to Hull Grove, Harlow, on Friday over concerns about the welfare of a man.

While engaging with a man armed with knife, one officer sustained a wound to her head and was taken to hospital and a second was assaulted.

Both women were said to be receiving support from senior officers.
