Colchester: Attempted murder arrest after boy, 16, stabbed

A 20-year-old man is being questioned by Essex Police after the "serious assault" in Colchester

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a boy was stabbed.

Essex Police was called to Queen Street, Colchester, at about 18:30 GMT on Tuesday.

The victim, a 16-year-old boy, was taken to hospital with stab wounds and is in a life-threatening condition.

Officers arrested a 20-year-old man in the early hours of Wednesday and he remains in custody. Anyone with information is asked to call 101.

Police cordons have been put in place on Queen Street and Priory Street.

Det Ch Insp Gregory Wood said: "Residents will notice an increased police presence in the area today.

"We are asking anyone who was in the area last night and may have witnessed anything to contact us and assist with our investigation."
