Andre said he loved making his own clothes as it meant no-one else has them

An 11-year-old boy appearing on a TV fashion competition said he was "shocked" when asked to style his nan as part of the show.

Andre was chosen to appear on CBBC's Style It Out, where contestants battle to win a slot at London Fashion Week.

The show, hosted by Emma Willis, sees outfits created from preloved and rescued clothes and materials.

"When I saw her come through the curtains I was so shocked, I wasn't expecting her," said Andre, from Essex.

Andre said he had enjoyed taking part in the show.

Andre said he wanted to become a police officer

"I like a different, versatile range of clothing like classic, stereotypical stuff boys wear and then also never-seen-before clothes," he said.

"That's what I love about making clothes, because no-one else has got it."

He explained his passion for fashion began aged three and he had not looked back since, before applying for Style It Out after hearing about it during a school assembly.

The competition has seen him create a zombie spider outfit for a Halloween theme alongside other designs.

But despite his eye for fashion, Andre, from Essex, said his ultimate dream was to become a Met Police officer.

"Maybe I can spruce up their outfits a bit, make them better," Andre said.

His mother, Shanta, said he was providing "great inspiration" for other children.

She said: "He's always had the flare for expressing himself creatively. You can be unapologetically yourself and be celebrated for that."
