Police searching for a missing teenager say they have found a body.

Ronnie Benjamin, 18, was reported as missing to police on Thursday. A body was found in Brentwood on Sunday, Essex Police said.

Although formal identification of the body has not yet taken place Mr Benjamin's family has been informed.

A police spokesperson said: "Our thoughts continue to be with Ronnie's family and loved ones at this very difficult time."

The force added it had referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) in connection with the case.

It is understood the referral relates to whether any lines of inquiry were potentially missed.
