Firefighters in Mundon contain 'well-developed' barn fire
- Published
Firefighters have been battling a blaze after it broke out at a large barn on a country road.
Essex County Fire & Rescue Service sent eight crews to New Hall Lane in Mundon, near Maldon.
The service said there was "a lot of smoke" and urged people in the area to keep their windows closed.
Firefighters were able to prevent the flames from spreading between buildings at the site and efforts were scaled down to three crews as of 14:30 GMT.
Group manager Dave Bond said they worked "incredibly hard" to contain what was a "well-developed fire".
An investigation into the cause would take place on Wednesday afternoon, he added.
