Website launched to give Essex road safety information

The partnership is aiming to prevent all road deaths and serious injuries by 2040

A new website has been launched to give current statistics and advice for different road users including young drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.

The Safer Essex Roads Partnership (SERP) also allows drivers to submit dashcam footage.

It will have a memorial page, to pay tribute to loved ones lost on Essex roads and share key memories.

SERP hope the website, external will contribute to the goal of having zero road deaths and serious injuries by 2040.

The partnership is made up of Essex Police, Essex Fire and Rescue Service, Essex County Council, Southend City Council, Thurrock Council, National Highways, The Police Fire & Crime Commissioner for Essex, The Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust, The East of England Ambulance Trust and The Safer Roads Foundation.

In 2022, 48 people were killed and 3,515 people were injured in crashes on Essex roads, according to the latest available figures, the partnership said.Will Cubbin, manager for SERP, said: "The partnership wants to both inform and engage the public, through educational tools, data, and knowledge as key methods for promoting road safety.

"The partnership is keen that all road users utilise our digital platform, as a knowledge hub, and for sharing information.

"Vision Zero is the aspiration to have no road death or serious injury on Essex roads by 2040, and this can only be achieved if everyone plays their part. Road safety impacts everyone."
