The Red Arrows will not be taking part in this year's Clacton Air Show, it has been confirmed.

Organised by Tendring District Council, the air show takes place over two days in August.

The council has confirmed the Red Arrows will not be at Clacton this year because they are performing in Canada at the time.

The council said their absence meant they had more money to spend on other displays.

The council's deputy leader, Ivan Henderson, said: "While the Red Arrows always bring a smile to the crowds when they are available, they are just one part of our regular line-up.

"Bidding for flights is a complex process and this also frees up some budget to spend on other amazing displays, so I am certain we will have a great line-up."

The air show is set to take place on 22 and 23 August.
