Essex Police appeals for witnesses after a kidnap in Saffron Walden

Police have appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage after a reported kidnapping.

A member of the public said they saw a man assaulted and taken into a vehicle at 10:30 GMT in Saffron Walden, Essex, on Monday.

Officers said a 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of kidnap and possession with intent to supply a Class A drug.

He has been released on bail as officers continue their investigations.

Police were called to reports of a kidnapping on the high street in Saffron Walden.

They said officers then identified the suspect, and located and stopped the vehicle used in the incident.

An Essex Police spokesperson said: "Our inquires are continuing, and we want to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has dashcam footage that may assist our investigation.

"Please contact us quoting incident 265 of Monday 11 March 2024."
