Essex Police says it is looking for this man in connection with the assault outside the pub

A man in his 50s has been left with life-changing brain injuries after he was punched in the head outside a pub, police have said.

Essex Police was called to Wash Road outside the Noak Bridge pub in Basildon at about 00:10 GMT on 27 January after reports of an assault.

The victim fell to the ground and the suspect left the scene in a silver Volkswagen Touareg, said police.

Officers released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak with.

Police said there was a large crowd outside the pub and that it was very busy at the time.
