Electric vehicle fault causes Rochford salvage yard fire
- Published
A fault in an electric vehicle caused a salvage yard blaze which left eight cars on fire.
Crews were called to Brickfields Way in Rochford, Essex, at 20:47 GMT on Wednesday.
Firefighters from Rochford, Southend and Leigh found eight cars "fully alight" when they arrived at the yard.
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service (ECFRS) said firefighters worked hard to contain the fire and prevent it spreading.
Temporary watch manager Steven Gabriel added: "Although the vehicles have been destroyed, this could very easily have become an even more significant incident without such a professional response from our crews."
ECFRS said in a statement: "An investigation has been carried out and the cause of the fire was a fault in an electric vehicle."
