Thaxted murder charge after man in his 50s dies in garden

A 51-year-old man has been charged with murder after a man died in a garden.

Essex Police were called to Orchard Close, Thaxted, on Monday at 00:35 GMT, following reports of an assault. Despite the best efforts of paramedics, a man in his 50s died at the scene.

Kevin Horswill, of Magdalen Green, Thaxted, is due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

Det Ch Insp Ant Alcock said the force wanted to "hear from any members of the public that may have information".

This was in relation to "a reported altercation at The Star in Mill End at about 10pm, or about a reported assault in Orchard Close between 11pm and 11.50pm".

He added: "If you have any details, you've not yet shared with police, please contact us."
