Motorcyclist dies after collision at Mardyke Junction in Grays

Police said the collision occurred between a car and a motorcycle at the Mardyke Junction in Grays

A woman has died after the motorcycle she was riding was struck by a car being pursued by the police.

Essex Police said the fatal collision took place on Sunday evening where the M25 meets the A13 in Grays.

The force said paramedics attended but that motorcyclist Andrina Everett, 19, died at the scene.

Two men arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving have been released on bail until 8 July, police said.

"Prior to this collision, the car was involved in a pursuit involving Kent Police," an Essex Police spokesperson said.

They said the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) was investigating the circumstances surrounding the pursuit.

Part of the Mardyke Junction roundabout was closed until the following morning after the crash at about 11:40 BST.

"Our investigation into the collision is ongoing and we continue to appeal for any information that will assist with our enquiries," added the spokesperson.

Kent Police referred itself to the IOPC after the incident.
