Roger Hirst re-elected as Essex police, fire and crime commissioner

Roger Hirst has won re-election as commissioner

Roger Hirst has been re-elected as Essex's police, fire and crime commissioner.

The Conservative candidate retained his role, having first won in 2016.

Mr Hirst received 126,447 votes and beat Adam Fox of the Labour & Co-operative Party, who picked up 116,875 votes.

Liberal Democrat Kieron Franks came third with 52,922 votes, and the English Democrats' Robin Tilbrook was in fourth place with 44,909 votes.

A total of 340,248 votes were cast, which represented a turnout of 24.52% - down from 32.47% in 2021.

The results were announced at Charter Hall, Colchester.

Mr Hirst said: "[I am] obviously delighted to have been returned again as the police and crime commissioner for Essex.

"I think the results show the public of Essex have confidence in what we are doing to get crime down and keep the community safe."
