A council has apologised after a body was buried in the wrong grave in Gloucestershire.
A spokesman from Cheltenham Borough Council said the person, who has not been identified, was buried in a grave that had been purchased for future use by another family by accident.
The incident happened at Cheltenham Crematorium.
A council spokesman said it had been an "unfortunate mistake" and the authority was working with both the families.
Garry Bowles, the council's bereavement services manager, said: "We recognise an unfortunate mistake has happened which we very much regret.
"We are working with the two families involved to resolve the issue as quickly as we can. This will continue to be our priority.''
