Motorway services in Gloucestershire are backed

More than 1,000 comments were received for the original application
Plans for a new motorway service station on the M5 in Gloucestershire has been recommended to be approved.
The £35m proposals for the site, near Brookthorpe, had been revised following opposition to original plans.
Stroud District Council planners gave the go-ahead subject to 62 conditions. It will now be considered at a full council meeting on 10 August.
Objectors said the services were not needed and would cause environmental problems in Matson and Brookthorpe.
A spokesman for the partnership between the Gloucestershire Gateway Ltd (GGL) and Westmorland Ltd said the new services would be eco-friendly and would "showcase" the county.
The initial application by GGL brought in more than 1,000 comments from the public.
Changes were made to take account of these comments and new plans submitted to Stroud District Council for the services between junctions 11a and 12.
Westmorland Ltd also operate Tebay services in Cumbria.
