GCHQ staff teach spy skills to Gloucestershire children

Children at a school in Gloucestershire are being given the chance to learn the skills needed for a career in the intelligence service.

Staff from GCHQ, the government intelligence agency in Cheltenham, have visited pupils at an after-school club at Chosen Hill school in Gloucester.

It is part of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (Stem) project.

The students are from all age-groups and selected on ability.

Teacher Keith Bostock, from Chosen Hill school, said: "We're exposing them to more A-level type work and going into the work in more detail.

"These pupils are what we would call 'good ability' and are more able in all three areas of science, technology and maths."

GCHQ employee Chris, who did not want to reveal his surname, said: "It's great to be able to impart some of the knowledge I have to the kids who can understand the technology available.

"We can actually see them grow and learn through the workshops."
