Gloucester's museums charge entrance fee

People visiting Gloucester's museums are to face new entrance charges.
Gloucester's City Museum and Art Gallery and the Folk Museum plan to charge £3 for standard tickets and £2 for concessions.
Gloucester City Council argues that the decision to charge individuals has been made in an attempt to save £200,000.
Labour councillor, Said Hansdot, described the plans as "diabolical", adding that museums are one of the few things people can enjoy free of charge.
The museums are undergoing a partially lottery-funded £1m make-over which will provide new educational facilities and displays.
Martyn White, Conservative cabinet member for heritage and leisure, said: "During recent consultation 71% of residents said you wouldn't mind the council introducing an entry charge for the city's museums."
Sarrah Macey, marketing officer for Gloucester council's culture and tourism department, said that with the new facilities the public will be getting a better offer.
