Four cows rescued from River Severn in Gloucestershire

A group of cows have been rescued after becoming stranded by the River Severn in Sandhurst, Gloucestershire.

The Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service received a call at 0955 BST about four animals stuck in the river off Sandhurst Lane.

It is believed the animals had got down a steep bank where they had become trapped beside the water.

Appliances and boats from Gloucester and Tewkesbury were able to guide the cows through the river to safety.
