Stroud canal bridge due to open in June

A £1.8m canal bridge in Stroud is expected to open by mid-June, engineers have said.

The new A46 Merrywalks Bridge, which will allow boats to pass underneath, was due to be finished by November.

But problems caused by heavy rain and an unexpected excavation at the base of the bridge caused delays.

The bridge is being built by Gloucestershire County Council as part of the Cotswold Canals Restoration Project.
