A fire which destroyed a lorry carrying rubber tyres led to the closure of the southbound carriageway of the A417 in Gloucestershire.
Gloucestershire Police said the fire, which started on Thursday morning, damaged the road near the Air Balloon Roundabout at Birdlip to Cirencester.
The road was closed to southbound traffic while it was resurfaced. It was reopened at about 0600 BST on Friday.
It remained open for northbound traffic throughout.
The A417 is a major route for commuters travelling between Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.
