Man rescued from River Severn in Gloucester

A man has been rescued from the River Severn in Gloucester.

Emergency services were called out to a stretch of water just off Severn Road shortly after 02:00 BST on Tuesday.

The man, who was in the water for about 20 minutes, was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries.

Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service said 19 firefighters using four fire engines and two boats were involved in the rescue. It is not yet known how the man came to be in the river.
