A man accused of threatening a Conservative MP has failed to appear in court.
Frank Zimmerman, 60, of Spinney Road, Barnwood, Gloucester, is accused of targeting Louise Mensch via Twitter and email.
He was due to appear before Gloucester magistrates on Monday, charged with making malicious communications.
The court heard he was suffering from agoraphobia, had been unwell for two weeks and was unable to leave his home.
District Judge Joti Boparai adjourned the case until 16 January.
Ms Mensch, who was elected as MP for Corby and East Northamptonshire last year, also writes novels under her maiden name Louise Bagshawe.
