Some Gloucestershire couples with infertility problems could receive an increase in IVF attempts on the NHS.
Up to three full cycles will be available from 1 October, an increase from one, which brings the county in line with national recommendations.
Certain criteria has to be met including the woman being aged between 23 and 39 and there being no living child from the current relationship.
This increase will cost NHS Gloucestershire £1.5m each year.
The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) has recommended, external up to three cycles of IVF treatment for certain couples since 2004.
Dr Liz Mearns, NHS Gloucestershire medical director, said: "I know this change will be welcomed by many couples who have experienced fertility problems and who long to start a family."
