Building work is to begin on a £40m service station on the M5 in Gloucestershire.

The services, which are being built in a partnership between Westmorland Ltd and Gloucestershire Gateway Trust, will be located at Ongers Farm, between junctions 11a and 12 at Brookthorpe.

A Gloucestershire Gateway Trust spokesman said work beginning is "an exciting moment" for the company.

The northbound services will be built first and will be open by summer 2014.
