Gloucestershire Hospitals trust boss apologises for cancelled ops

  • Published

The chief executive of Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Trust has apologised to patients who have had operations cancelled at short notice.

Dr Frank Harsent said wards for winter-related illnesses were still open, causing an extra work load.

He said this was leading to bed-management issues at Gloucestershire Royal and Cheltenham General hospitals.

The trust is prioritising urgent cancer surgery over other procedures, he added.

"I know cancellations are frustrating for those affected but the trust thanks those affected for their patience during this challenging time," Dr Harsent said.
