Power cut hits town's water supply

About 900 homes in a Gloucestershire town were left without water or with low water pressure after a power cut at a pumping station.

Thames Water said the areas affected were in the GL7 and GL54 postcode areas of Cirencester.

A spokesman for the firm said: "We are really sorry for the disruption and we are working hard to fix the problem as soon as possible."

Bottled water is being offered while engineers fix the problem.

Although the issue has been fixed the firm said it could be a number of hours before full supply returns to the network.

It is hoped supply will return to normal by Monday morning.

Bottled water has been made available at Cirencester Primary School, Cirencester Rugby Ground and Beeches Car Park in the town.
