Gloucestershire housing plan approved by councillors

Councillors in Gloucester, Cheltenham and Tewkesbury have voted in favour of the proposals

A major plan to develop parts of Gloucestershire has been approved by the three councils backing it.

More than 30,000 homes could be built around Gloucester, Cheltenham, and Tewkesbury before 2031 if the Joint Core Strategy is signed off.

Over the last few days councillors in each area have all voted in favour of the latest version of the document.

It will now go out for further public consultation before being submitted to the government later this year.

The areas identified for development include:

• Innsworth, Gloucester: 1,250 new homes

• Churchdown, Gloucester: 1,400 new homes

• Brockworth, Gloucester: 1,500 new homes

• Leckhampton, Cheltenham: 1,124 new homes

• North west Cheltenham: 4,785 new homes

• MOD Site at Ashchurch, Tewkesbury: 2,125 new homes
