Gloucester Diocese open meeting to discuss new bishop role

  • Published

People living in the Diocese of Gloucester are being given the chance to have a say on what skills the next bishop will need to bring to the post.

The Bishop of Gloucester, the Right Reverend Michael Perham, who is due to retire in November, withdrew from the role for "personal reasons" in August.

He was interviewed by the Metropolitan Police investigating two allegations of indecent assault but was not arrested.

The open meeting is at Gloucester Cathedral at 19:00 BST on Monday.

The Bishop of Tewkesbury, the Right Reverend Martyn Snow, has taken up Bishop Perham's duties in his absence.

The person appointed will be responsible for more than 300 parishes and almost 400 churches, covering an area from the Welsh border in the west of the county to Lechlade in the east.
