Cirencester solar farm plans unveiled

Plans for a 102-acre solar farm near Cirencester have been unveiled.

Energy firm Big60Million wants to build on land near Witpit Lane, Preston, and has applied to Cotswold District Council for planning permission.

The community energy company said the proposed 23.4MW farm would produce enough energy to power more than 6,700 homes each year.

People have been urged to submit their views on the plans through Cotswold District Council's website, external.

Big60Million already has solar farms in Kent, Stratford-upon-Avon and at Willersey in the Cotswolds, and has been given permission to build another near Swindon.
