Police are appealing for information after thieves attacked a car following a burglary from a house in Kingswood

Thieves stole two electric bikes from a property before attacking a car being driven by the bikes' owner, police say.

Officers are appealing for information after the e-bikes were stolen from a shed in Kingswood near Wotton-under-Edge on Saturday morning.

The thieves made off in a van but were chased by someone from the property.

The van stopped and blocked the car, with a man in a balaclava using a heavy object to damage the back of the car and ram it before driving off.

Gloucestershire Police said the owners of the house were woken to the sound of the break-in at around 03:30 GMT and saw two of their electric bicycles being stolen.

They got in their own car and chased the thieves but were blocked by the white Volkswagen van between Kingswood and Wickwar.

The van's occupants then attacked the car and smashing one of the headlights.

Officers would like to speak to anybody with information or who has relevant CCTV or dashcam footage.
