A man has died in hospital after being hit by a car, police have confirmed.

Emergency services were called to the Promenade in Cheltenham town centre after the 82-year-old was struck by a car outside Prezzo restaurant at 09:50 GMT on Tuesday.

He was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol to be treated for serious head injuries but died later that evening.

Gloucestershire Police has asked anyone who witnessed the collision to contact officers.
