Temporary access road proposed for 266 homes near Cheltenham

Developers want to build a temporary access road as part of plans to build 4,115 homes in Cheltenham.
Persimmon Homes South Midlands Ltd has applied for permission to erect a temporary road from Manor Road at Swindon Village for construction vehicles to get to work on the first phase of the huge development behind Gallagher Shopping Park.
The road is needed for 12 months.
Borough planners are expected to consider the proposals by 26 March.
The first phase of the Elms Park development will see 266 homes constructed, as reported by the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
Of these properties, 93 will be affordable and all will benefit from non-gas heating with low carbon air source heat pumps, solar panels and charging points for electric vehicles.
The land forms the southern tip of a much larger area between Swindon Village, Elmstone Hardwicke, Uckington and the A4019 Tewkesbury Road.
'Avoid flooding'
The plans for the site are designed to work with the natural landscape, safeguarding a network of green spaces to protect trees, hedgerows and areas along waterways.
As per the designs, a public open space will run through the centre of the site, which will have natural pond areas set aside to absorb rainwater and help avoid flooding in the future.
The current plans for the temporary road are out for consultation and people have until February 20 to comment on the temporary road scheme.
Borough planners are expected to consider the proposals by March 26, this year.
For the wider Elms Park development, Bloor Homes and Persimmon want to build 4,115 homes, two primary schools and a secondary school, a business park and a neighbourhood centre.
This could include retail, leisure, community and healthcare facilities and a transport hub.
