A Ferris wheel is returning to a town in an attempt to bring more people back to the high street.

The Cheltenham Observation Wheel will be installed in the town's Imperial Gardens from 9 February until 3 March.

This comes as the owners of Cavendish House, in Cheltenham, have confirmed the building will shut its doors in April for the final time.

Data from previous years revealed that the wheel boosted February footfall by 10-15%, the organisers said.

The wheel is operated by The Giant Wheel Company and hosted by business charity Cheltenham BID.

Heath Gunter, Chief Executive of Cheltenham BID, said: "The attraction not only gives residents and visitors the opportunity to see beautiful Cheltenham from a different perspective but also brings increased footfall to our businesses during a quieter period of the year.

"Town centres are multifaceted hubs beyond mere shopping destinations, and the wheel serves as a magnet, drawing visitors into town. While here, they also support local shops and restaurants."
