Cotswold wall saved after demolition fears

A Gloucestershire wall built by villagers has been saved after fears it would be pulled down.
Sycamore Grove residents rebuilt a wall bordering their estate in Chalford Hill using stones Chalford Parish Council had set aside for other projects.
Initially, the council asked for the stones to be returned and site owner GreenSquareAccord said the wall had been built without permission.
At a meeting on Thursday, they agreed to work together on finding a solution.
There was agreement a new low wall which continued along the boundary between Sycamore Grove and Middle Hill would be beneficial and may soon become a reality.
Josie Felce, 79, one of the residents who built the wall, said: "It was a very good meeting... they all talked together and everyone softened. So we are working together now."
More than 210 people had signed a petition to save the wall, as reported by the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
The GreenSquareAccord officer said they would talk to their works committee and see how they could proceed, Ms Felce said.
"We are going to work together and it may be a volunteer team from Sycamore Grove that will build a little wall to continue across the front," she added.
