About 50 swimmers braved the outdoor waters in aid of charity.

Raising money for Winston's Wish, the swimmers took part in the Polar Plunge, swimming 50m in the cold water at Sandford Parks Lido in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, on Saturday.

The charity provides bereavement counselling and support services for children and young people in the UK.

Jacki, from Cheltenham, took part in the challenge and said it "was amazing" and "invigorating".

Grace Lee from Winston's Wish said they were "so grateful" to all that took part

"It was a massive massive challenge for me and I'm so glad I did it. And all for a good cause," Jacki, who did not want to give her surname, added.

Grace Lee from the charity said they were "so grateful" to all the "incredible polar plungers" that took part.

She said: "The money they have helped to raise will ensure bereaved children and young people across Cheltenham and the rest of the country can access support so they don't have to face the devastation of grief alone."

"Winston's Wish supports more than 62,000 children and young people every and we simply couldn't do this without the kindness and generosity of our supporters and fundraisers," she added.

The total raised is yet to be calculated.
