Part of Gloucester Tall Ships Festival's line-up unveiled

Part of the line-up for a festival "for everyone" has been unveiled.

Gloucester Tall Ships Festival will bring three "joyful" days of vast ships and "a constant tapestry of amazing music", said organisers.

Old Time Sailors, Thrill Collins and Brassienda are among those performing over the late May Bank Holiday Weekend.

Creative director Robin Kemp hopes it will be an "absolutely banging three days".

Mr Kemp, "the captain" of the Tall Ships Festival expected the first day to bring a party atmosphere to the city's docks.

"We've got Brassienda which is this incredible seven-piece brass band who plays amazing reversions of dance classics." Mr Kemp told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

Liverpool hip-hop orchestra The Incredible 11 will support Brassienda, with Tall Ships regulars Roving Crows also set to make an appearance on Saturday 25 May.

And the Sunday will bring sea shanties from Old Time Sailors and "reimagined folk with bits of Bollywood" from Step Hop House to the ears of festivalgoers.

Mr Kemp said a "really big announcement" will be made regarding Monday's headliner in a couple of weeks.

A range of emerging local artists will take to the stage on the final day as the festival has been working closely with Gloucester-based charity The Music Works.

"We've worked on this for a good few months now and our ambitions for Gloucester Tall Ships is to really try and make the festival for everyone," Mr Kemp said.

"We know that the huge audience of people love to come down view the ships and really get into that shanty folk feel. We're absolutely keeping that at the heart of the festival but also we want to bring in a different flavour as well.

"We want to make this as joyful as possible and give everyone the chance to get involved in what we hope will be an absolutely banging three days."
