Gloucester fly-tipping: More than 500 cases reported

There have been 540 cases of fly-tipping reported in Gloucester over the past year, up from 341 the previous year.
Reports of fly-tipping in the town have led to 74 fines, 24 people being prosecuted for not paying, Gloucester City Council said.
Its latest figure for 2023 were published last week.
Council leader Richard Cook thanked the environmental team for their efforts in 2023.
He said they had "engaged with partners and other organisations to educate about fly tipping and other environmental offences".
The council said 63 warning notices had been issued for various environmental issues during 2023.
Last year, more than 160 fines were issued to people for littering and fly-tipping, along with more than 100 warning letters.
People who fly-tip can get a fine of up to £50,000 or up to five years in prison.
