Cirencester: Changes to parking and traffic control
- Published
Changes to on-street parking will come into effect in a Cotswold town later.
There will be extra parking bays and better short stay access to shops and businesses in Cirencester town centre.
Gloucestershire County Council has been working in partnership with Cirencester Town Council to deliver the developments.
The proposals were formed through feedback received during engagement exercises in 2021.
Other measures include additional yellow lines and restricted parking areas to ensure there is regular turnover of parking spaces.
Pay and display facilities in Castle Street, Dyer Street and Cricklade Street will have a two-hour maximum stay, with no change in parking charges, but will allow a 20 minute free period for very short-term visits.
There are additional and amended disabled bays with a maximum three hour stay to protect kerbside space for blue badge holders.
Additional or amended loading bays are also included in Castle Street, Dyer Street and Cricklade Street, along with a motorcycle bay and amended taxi bay in the Market Place and there will be a reduction in time of waiting/loading restrictions from 8am to 6pm.
