Firefighters have pulled a cow free from a bog after it became stuck.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 0710 BST on Sunday by two birdwatchers who discovered the heifer at Woolmer Common in Bordon, Hampshire.

An animal rescue specialist said: "It appeared the cow was grassing in the wet bog area when it slipped into a ditch filled with water."

He added the animal's hind legs sank into the wet peat. A vet administered medication, the fire service said.
