A former shipyard in Southampton could soon be redeveloped, creating 700 jobs.
The Vosper Thornycroft site in Woolston could be transformed into a maritime and marine innovation quarter, which will include homes and businesses.
The plans are due to be submitted by the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) and Southampton City Council early next year.
SEEDA said manufacturers had already expressed interest in the scheme which could bring skilled jobs to the area.
The maritime quarter is part of the £500m development of Centenary Quay at the former shipyard, which was relocated to Portsmouth in 2004.
The plans include 1,600 homes as well as shops and offices.
