Human remains found buried on land in Hampshire are thought to be more than 100 years old, police have said.
Officers were called at about 1020 BST to Tipner Lane, Portsmouth, after the discovery by construction workers.
They are digging the foundations for a new school sports hall in the grounds of Harbour School.
A force spokesman said the an examination concluded the bones were "most likely" those of a man in his 50s and more than 100 years old.
Det Insp Mark Tutton said: "We are satisfied that due to the age of the bones there are no suspicious circumstances to investigate."
Police have retained the bones and notified the coroner.
