New Hampshire care homes to create 180 jobs

Construction of the Lymington care home is expected to start next year

Two new multimillion-pound care homes in Hampshire are set to create up to 180 jobs.

A £7m specialist dementia home in Winchester will employ 80 people and is due to open next spring.

Construction of a second £8.5m home on the site of the former Linden House residential home in Lymington is expected to start next year.

Colten Care, which operates 18 care and dementia homes in the South, said the home should create 80 to 100 jobs.

'Highest standards'

It comes after a number of homes across Hampshire have been earmarked for closure amid budget cuts.

Ian Hudson, Colten Care managing director, said: "The building of both homes represents a major expansion.

"Both homes will combine the highest standards of care with the latest technology and building techniques."

Founded in 1989, Colten Care is based in Western Road, Lymington, and employs 1,300 people.
