Body found in Chilworth car fire

Police were called to Chilworth near Southampton early on Tuesday morning

A body has been found after police were called to a car fire in Hampshire.

Emergency services were first called to the fire in Chilworth Drove, Chilworth, at 01:30 BST.

Door-to-door inquiries are being carried out in the area near Southampton. The body has not been identified.

Hampshire police are yet to reveal whether they believe the death is suspicious and are appealing for witnesses.

A post mortem examination was expected to take place this afternoon while the area is set to remain cordoned off into the evening.
